Missing home today!
For those of you who know, know!
This is a bit of burning man. I am married to the playa… It is in my heart always.
First off I want to say, thank you guys for your thoughtful comments. I wanted to be a bit vague because sometimes I feel a critique is more honest when you are not really sure what is going on in the photo. I wanted your opinions based off the photo NOT knowing how much this sand means to me.
When I say those who know, know! It is referencing other “Burners” who have been to the event. If you have been there, the term playa is somewhat of a double edged sword. It is a huge part of the experience. At Burning man, you eat it, breath it, get covered in it, celebrate it and hate it all at once. It can ruin a day or drive friends closer together. A slight amount of wind can case a white out. People dance, huddle, seek shelter, sing it’s power and curse it’s pain!
I close the focus because the bottle really isn’t what is important. If you look back in the comments you will see that a fellow “Burner” keeps hers in tupperware. For some reason people have a strong desire to take some of the desert home with them. In this case, unintentionally as the dust in this small bottle was collected from camping gear and stuff after I got home.
I took several different angles of the shot trying to capture the feeling I was going for. I was honestly trying to go for a bit of mystique.
Here is another angle for you to better see the playa. It is fine like talcum powder.

The little shiny object in the corner is a tiny little plastic gold ring that was gifted to me in 08. I was told that it was my playa fortune.
It came in a little dime bag filled with playa. It had a message printed on a strip of paper inside that said, “You are now married to the playa for life this burn shall always be with you”.
